Josef Maria Krasanovsky, born 1976 in Salzburg (AUT), lives as a freelance director and playwright in Vienna. He works as a guest lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (AUT) and the Academy of Dramatic Arts Passau (D).
 

He has been directing plays since 2006:
Bregenz Festival (AUT), Landestheater Linz (AUT), Nationaltheater Radu Stanca (RO), Theater an der Rott (D), Vereinigte Bühnen Graz (AUT), Theater Phönix Linz (AUT), Theatertage Heidelberg (D), Klagenfurter Ensemble (AUT), Werk X Wien - Eldorado (AUT), Theater Drachengasse Wien (AUT), Theaterfestival Cisneau (MD) ...

 

In the 2017 season, his production of Thornton Wilder's "The Skin on our Teeth" at the Theater an der Rott (D) was awarded the Lower Bavarian Integration Prize.

 

Krasanovsky is also active as a playwright and in 2023 received the Playwright Award of the Austrian Theater Alliance for his contemporary play "Drinking moonmilk always and now / i don`t care about your solarplexus". The playwrights Thomas Köck, Miroslava Svolikova and Bernd Studlar won the prize in the previous years. The world premiere of his new play will take place at the Bregenz Festival in 2024.
